I’m happy to report we have been making progress on our Rollins Museum Project. Our concentration on the natural sciences has given us an overabundance of art so our selection process has been difficult. We decided to focus on the Renaissance and how it inspired all artists to have a grasp of both the ethereal and the physical realm.

After our feedback from David Matteson, Associate Curator of Education at RMA, we wanted to make sure we always kept in mind we were creating this teaching portfolio for not only Rollins College classrooms, but also potentially in K-12 programing as well. This helped us narrow our focus and although we did omit several nudes we did feel it was important to keep some in our collection, it was the Renaissance after all.

As we set forth in creating our introduction we wanted to make it clear that not only our focus but also why these particular paintings work together to create a cohesive portfolio. We also included curriculum references for K-5. As middle and high school references become exceedingly specific we have decided to leave them off for the time being.

All in all, I think we have set ourselves up on a good path and am excited to see where it goes. Last time I updated on this project I highlighted one of my favorite paintings and it seems only right that I do the same again. So here’s another one of my favorite paintings!
